Now that I have time off from work, with the film shooting ending last Friday, I sit back and relax and get to know my fellow writers’ blogs. That’s right, one of the things that kept me uber busy this month is writing for the Beauty and Fashion channel of The Philippine Online Chronicles. Though it’s hard work, I realize how important this opportunity is for me as a freelancing stylist and fashion blogger. With both of that, I really have to motivate myself–but as a contributing writer, I have an editor to please and deadlines to meet. The pressure is worse! In fact, my column, Real People, Real Clothes, really pushed me out of my comfort zone as I am mostly an introvert–to my friends, I talk like a machine gun, but random strangers? It’s hard enough to chat them up, it’s even harder to convince strangers to have their pictures taken! Since getting deeper into writing and styling for fashion, I’ve had to keep my game up and work the PR skills. I’m not quite used to going to blogger events without knowing other bloggers there, but I suspect that’ll change soon.
My editor for The POC.net’s Beauty and Fashion Channel is Liz of Project Vanity and Ukay Manila. I write alongside Nikki, Kira, Mara, Lauren, Tanya, and Angela. I don’t know everyone yet, but I’m getting there! And the more I learn about my fellow writers, the more pleased I am to know that I was actually chosen to write with them because they’re so darn good. For me, it’s pretty hard to find fashion and beauty blogs that are personal and objective and really really interesting in perspective. I love my new blog finds!
Anyway, the Beauty and Fashion channel has been up this month, so it’s still quite new. I think we’re the newest channels at the POC, or at least one of them.
