One thing that ladies should never ever fail to take care of is their feet. Those little pigies say a lot about a person’s grooming habits and personal hygene and that goes for both sexes. I remember a friend telling me that you know a person’s a slob when he has unkempt feet–and that stuck to me, because after that, I was really self-conscious about my feet (especially because I was born with such veiny, man-looking ones). Even guys check out girls’ feet, and you know that when men start caring about small details, it’s cause for alarm. And while we don’t always have time for pedicures, thankfully, there are some quick fixes.
Bobbie Cuticle Oil

This is such a boon! I’ve tried baby oil and petroleum jelly (heck, even lip balm when I got desperate once), but nothing even comes close to the cuticle oil when it comes to repairing dry toes and nails. It manages to banish what I call hobbit feet and makes it remarkably less gruesome. It’s the next best thing to a pedicure. Just drop a small amount on your toes after you shower. Use it as often as needed, even with nail polish on. I usually buy it from Rustan’s supermarket, but I think it’s also available in Watson’s. Read a more detailed review of this product from my sister’s blog entry “Ugly Nail Saver” (we obviously both love it, if that tiny amount left on the picture above is any indication).

Frodo Baggins might just want to score one of these.
If there’s one useful thing Kris Aquino imparted to this world, it’s this: just before you go to bed, slather petroleum jelly on dry feet, put on socks and leave them overnight. This gets rid of dark, dry spots better than whitening soaps can because it leaves them soft. The only problem is that you’ll go through socks pretty quickly so at least use old ones you don’t wear anymore. No one will see them anyway!

Use nail polish remover with moisturizing ingredients because the usual kind makes nails brittle and dry. Ideally, nails should take a breather every once in a while from polish, too, because it tends to yellow and dry when left on too long. I scored this one from Watson’s.

It’s easier for me to remove red or pink nail polish than other colors because red or pink leaves a more natural tinge on your toes like you just had them freshly scrubbed. Now try that with blue or black–them piggies will look like you stepped on a cactus plant.

If you’re as unfortunate as I am having veiny feet, you can disguise them in chic boots or heels with a lot of details like cutouts or straps. This is why I avoid ballet flats or simple, classic-cut pumps. Sad, but that’s the way it works.

I agree pink and red are easy to remove. Dark colors , esp black, leaves some ugly mark . sometimes my nails looks so ‘patay’ after removing the color. >.
Doesn’t it? Haha! Though I like trying other colors, I come to regret them when it’s time to take it off and it’s already been too long. It’s such a bitch to rub them off!
Even acrylic nails leave marks too.
Ah really? I didn’t know about that! I don’t wear acrylic nails kasi. But I thought they were supposed to be more convenient.
yup like white marks. and i’ll never use it again.:D
I want to try the cuticle oil because I have ugly feet and I’m a sucker for beauty products. Hahaha
@fetz – haha, go! The only thing my sister doesn’t like is that it’s tinted green. I actually don’t mind, I don’t think they make my toes look green. I think I saw some other cuticle oil brand they’re selling at David’s Salon, but I’m not sure if it’s as
Bobbie Cuticoil is
I wanted to say “love”…the thing cut off my post. LOL.
Hmmm… I really should take better care of my feet ^_^;;;;
@Aggie – get that bobbie cuticle oil, it’s so handy. Actually, it kinda makes us lazy to get pedicures, because it’s a really good fix for dry toes. It’s saved me from embarrassing situations countless of times!
This is very helpful! Haha! Buti na lang may Watson’s sa baba ng office!
@Leia – super! Sometimes Ate and I would last for more than a month without a proper pedicure, we rely on this so much. xD
I read your blog and tried this cuticle oil OMG it’s great!
@Dong – dibaa? It’s so useful! You can fake a pedicure for over a month haha!
