The Reluctant Stylista

I’ve always liked plaid and its schoolgirl appeal. Well, British schoolgirls maybe, since most of our schoolgirls here don’t really wear cute chic skirts but long manang ones like we don’t live in a tropical country.  But the most part of the last 3 years, plaid and checked blouses got a thorough beating from the trend mill. I still recall that incident in Greenbelt when I saw a group of 4 or 5 girls all wearing checked shirts, denim cut-offs and gladiator sandals.  Which is why I avoided plaids for the most part in recent years.

But I do love this shirtdress I got from What a Girl Wants a couple of years back.  It’s one of my favorite lazy outfits.  I sometimes wear it without a belt, but I did a few days ago because I wanted to wear the butterfly belt I got from Ukay Manila.

Plaids and browns

Elianto nail polish with The Face Shop top coat. Elianto is admirably chip resistant but it’s soft in a weird way. Like I can still make nail and finger prints on them more than a week later.  So if you’re using Elianto nail polish, you probably should get something like a Sally Hansen top coat which makes the surface more lacquered and quick-drying better than The Face Shop’s.

Plaids and browns

Well, you already know the DMs.  I discovered this day that I should be wearing socks as high as the leather because they chafe.

Plaids and browns

Terracotta bag from Nine West, Gray wool cap from H&M and cat necklace given by a friend.

Reluctant Stylista - brown butterfly belt

Butterfly belt from Ukay Manila. Isn’t it pretty?

Reluctant Stylista - Ice Watch

I love the transparent straps, but it does look kind of flimsy. I say this because I’m a total accident prone with things you shouldn’t be accidental with like watches.  Silver Ice Watch from the Classic Collection.

I love your shoes! :D too bad it chafes but it still looks fierce :)

Galing ah. When I borrow that plaid outfit, I usually don’t put a belt on it, thinking it would make me look too young. Puwede pa rin pala maging age-appropriate even with the belt.

Smarla – Thanks! I wear it a lot and that was the first time it chafed; I was practically walking non-stop the whole day, I suppose.

Bea – I think it looks more sophisticated with the belt and younger without it. But either is pretty good :D

Liz – Of course! I love love the belt. I’m so glad I got it.

  5. Nice! Finally got to see your Ice Watch, maganda mukhang ice talaga hehe. I also like the Doc Martens kaso di na ata bagay sa edad ko. :p

I miss dressing up a bit and posting looks on lookbook. But since I started working I can no longer find the time in the morning to dress up and take photos of the look. Since I wake up early and work is at 7am. Kaloka no time talaga! Hahaha! I’ve been wearing boring work clothes too. Boo.

Leia – when I used to work in TDP and I had to be there before 6:30am, I lay out my clothes the night before to speed things up because I don’t like hurrying my breakfast. :) )
