So I’ve done this shoot some time ago, but being the excellent blog updater that I am, I’m only posting this now. I feel like I’ve seen these photos everywhere and that they’re thoroughly exhausted already but maybe I’m being full of myself. Or I live in this small bubble where this campaign keeps appearing. In any case, I styled Maggie Wilson herself for a shoot with AVA.ph for their summer 2013 campaign. It featured D&V Hairpieces which also sold on AVA, as well as Eric Manansala and Panopio jewelry.
Maggie Wilson is a beauty queen, model, former MTV VJ, a fashion blogger at Haute Affair and designs her own swimwear line called Wanderlust, some of which I also used for this shoot alongside clothes designed by Kim Gan. This is one of my favorite shoots this year, shot by the talented MJ Suayan. Makeup by Diana de Castro.
First, some behind the scenes photos by Mimi Morada.
Byron on BTS video duty.
Maggie was very easy to work with, which is what I really appreciate about beauty queens because they’ve been trained for this. They work hard, they don’t whine over every little thing and they know a lot of handy tricks. Maggie regaled us with stories of beauty queen training, down from 5-minute makeup to walking and posture. I’ve come to admire girls in training even more, and especially Maggie, who devotes some of her time in helping to coach these girls out of love and gratefulness for those who mentored her years ago. A classic example of paying it forward, to be sure.
Here working behind the scenes with Amanda Lapus, who’s also a commercial model herself.
So yeah, this was several months ago when I was still keeping my shaved sidecut and ombre.
It was searing hot that day! But when you work with a great team and you know you’ll produce amazing results, heat and exhaustion don’t even bother you (if you even notice it).
Always thankful to Nio, who assists me in my major shoots. He deserves that donut.
I’m in love with this chair. I always see it in travel and lifestyle magazines.
Maggie Wilson is a pro I would love to work with again. She was there during the last Bloggers United in SMX, which was fantastic because she was so hands-on. It was great, and being one of the fashion bloggers of BU, to me, that just speaks volumes of her sincerity. Other invited celebrity bloggers didn’t show up at all despite having their own stalls set up, were also absent the last several BUs–and these were girls who have been in Bloggers United since it was established. How hard is it to make some time to drop by the venue, even if only for half an hour, especially if you know you have readers there waiting for you?
Going back to business, here are the final photos from MJ Suayan:
Eyewear: Retro Super Future / Earrings: Eric Manansala / Dress: Kim Gan / Hair: D&V

Special thanks to also to Alexys Delgado who helped us find the location and organize this shoot, along with Amanda Lapus. I do miss the AVA girls! They were one of the best teams I’ve worked with.Related posts:
