The Reluctant Stylista

I got that quote from Delirium of The Endless, a character created by one of my favorite authors of all time, Neil Gaiman.  Because when I tried on this colored hair spray from Wish, I immediately thought of her.

Wish - Colored Hair Spray

For the past three years, I’ve half-heartedly tried to complete her outfit for Halloween (which isn’t all that hard, really), but I never really get around to it.  I think maybe I’ll try again this year if I’m not swamped with work again, since I still have an undercut that matches hers.  And it’s easier to cop her look nowadays because washable hair colors are now in more accessible stores.  For this one, I used Wish, which is available in all Watsons branches.  I used to buy my stock of washable hairspray from Divi and they were pretty harsh to my hair!

Wish is derma-approved for skin and hair, although I must say I still had difficulty washing it off because my wavy hair is so prone to tangling with hair products.  This also made my hair a bit crinkly so it was quite tricky to comb out.

Some tips if you’re using this washable color hairspray:

  • Wear an old T-shirt (one that you don’t mind getting stained) while you spray.
  • Have something to cover your face so you can get to the roots in front.
  • Have a wide-toothed comb ready.
  • Use a mild shampoo to wash it off.
  • Condition your hair thoroughly after use.

For this shoot, I used a combination of Orange, Pink and Purple.  I still have Red, Silver and Brown left unused, but maybe not for long.  I’m eyeing the granny chic silver hair that’s been “quietly” trending since last year, and this is a great way to test out the look before I go for the plunge (and possibly kill my mane, as that will require a tremendous amount of bleach for my natural brunette locks).  I imagine washable color hairspray is a boon for cosplayers, stylists and editors who need instant colored hair for their looks.  So thanks, Wish!

Photos by Louie Manay, obviously taken before the fierce tan I acquired in La Union.  Because I look like Death, who, incidentally, is Delirium’s big sister.
