About
The Reluctant Stylista is a fashion and lifestyle blog written by Alex Lapa--the tomboy who suddenly discovered the joys and perks of dressing up. Original illustrations by Paolo Lazatin.
For inquiries, comments, invites and other messages, shoot me an e-mail. You can also ask me some fashion/styling questions--heck, in my line of work, I rarely get to dress up the same body type as my own! If your question is something that I think will benefit our readers, I will feature it in our Ask Stylista section! Click on the button below to send your questions!
Click here if you're looking for my styling work. Do visit my newly set up R.Stylista Facebook page, which will soon contain a lot more of my collaborations in commercials, advertisements, TV, fashion shows and even lifestyle, personal and engagement shoots!

Mar42013Tags: fashion, models, outfit of the day, photographersThis is really just one of those lazy outfits that I wouldn’t have bothered to document as an OOTD post, except that it got photographed a lot that day. See, I just threw on whatever, drove to Nio’s studio in Makati to meet up with him, John and our model Krystal Espiritu for lookbook shoot that day (we were shooting JSC’s first collection). I thought I was going to be assisting Nio to style for the collection, but apparently I was doing it on my own as he was going to be our photographer that day! Good thing our first stop was Nio’s studio, so I grabbed whatever was there to accessorize the clothes and we were all set.
But not before a whole lot of test shots. Of myself. So much, that Krystal jokingly complained I had more model shots that day than she did, haha! So I thought I might as well keep all those photos for a future filler episode at The Reluctant Stylista.
Sweater, shorts and ring from Forever 21 / Boots from Kickers
The pair of stockings was a Christmas gift from my cousin Aggie. I used to wear a lot of patterned tights because I hated showing my legs.
The real model and the fake one. I hate our height difference! Hahaha! I was already standing on higher ground, Krystal tried slouching, and she’s still taller! Why oh why didn’t I get the tall genes?
Lighting test one. This is actually how I wear the sweater since it’s quite big.
I used to hate it when photographers do lighting tests on me because one is never really prepared for professional lighting when you barely wear make-up. I usually I end up looking like a corpse. But this shot by Adrian Teng isn’t so bad!
Sometimes, photographers get carried away with the test shots, so they start snapping away like crazy. As I said, I ended up with a bunch of photos. I think it’s because when they say “Jump!”, I really do.
Photos by Nio Manzano, except for the last three (including the lookbook photo) which were by Adrian Teng.

KRYSTAL!!! LURVE-LEH!!
And so tall! Haha
Sana you posted the “fears” photo haha
ROFL! Nowai!
Sana yung buhok ko pag ginupit ganyan din kabait sa buhok mo. Hehe.
It’s super dry na! I need a haircut soon.
She may be taller, but you’re much prettier IMO. And your jump shot looks great!
Haha thanks! I don’t even know how I managed that. LOL
Dang, how do I jump like that.
They made me jump plenty of times, and they managed to get at least one shot that looked good enough =))
Love the outfit! I want that sweater.
Thanks Gel!
I love your tights so much. They are so cute. Bloghopping here dear. Hope you visit back! <3
Thanks Mrs. Kolca! And thank you for dropping by. Will definitely check out your blog.
You still look amazing! Hope to see you this Sunday for tea?
Yes! I’m excited na, haha! I just have to think of *where*. So many tea places here in BF!
wow, this is my first time to visit your blog! and i love it! and your hair rocks! hmmm if you don’t mind! and pls don’t get me wrong, nung nag pa ganyan ka ba ng buhok did you think na pagsisihan mo un? kasi alam mo gusto ko talaga ang ganyan style kaso nanghihinayang talaga ako!
Nope, I never thought I’d regret it and I haven’t! But then again I’m pretty gung-ho in my ways, and with this hairstyle it’s easy enough to hide if I ever get tired of it (at least with my wavy-curly hair…it might be more difficult with straight hair because the shaved corner tends to stick out with some).
love the sweater!
love the portrait shot and the outfit!
