Feb32010I don’t religiously check the most celebrated designers’ collections like most hardcore fashion junkies would. I’m more the let’s-see-what-we-have-in-our-old-closets-and-thrift-stores kind of girl. I do like to keep my eye on them, however, to get a pretty good idea on how fashion trends will be evolving. Some of the Pre-Fall 2010 designer collections’ really made an impression on this casual viewer, especially Stella McCartney’s collection.
Stella said of her collection “It’s to provide a whole wardrobe, pieces that will stay with you for years because of the quality, and because, hopefully, they have a kind of timelessness.” And I do think she got the timelessness down pat. Her collection exuded a certain coolness about it, and when I saw the pantsuits, I immediately thought Katharine Hepburn. It’s definitely classic, emphasizing on simple sophistication and careful tailoring. Maybe what fascinates me about this is that I’ve been so used to piling on the layers be it on clothes and jewelry and distressing fabrics for that edgy vibe. So far, I can only dream of styling something so simple and cool as this.
I also love the palette she mostly worked with. Tan, camel and nudes were among my favorites in her collection.

Oooohhh! Remember when I said, on our way home from the aunties, that I wanted to do the androgynous look but with classier and powerful twist? This is how I’d imagine I’d do it…except for the pants, though. They wouldn’t be flattering on me.
But those are the ones I love most! I want to have those first four pics at least.
I wish I had long legs, too.
