I want to live in high heels. (If you’ve been a follower of this blog a long time, or you just know me personally, you know my deep-rooted frustrations about my height, festering since grade school).
But let’s face it. Manila isn’t built for high heels.
I know what you see in Hollywood movies. They make it seem so easy, how regular girls go about their daily grind in high heels. But hell, that’s not the MRT you’re seeing. They don’t ride jeepneys or scary secondhand buses or walk uneven pavements with a lot of potholes and ditches. I used to live in high heels–back when I had a desk job. Ironically, now that I work in fashion, I walk around so much, my ankles get tattered, my toes get pinched and I’ve developed horrible blisters. And that’s when I’ve actually transitioned into flats.
So against my instincts, I’ve reached for more comfortable footwear–sneakers–more often than I can count these past few months. I thank adidas for that. And also, because of them, I’m seriously considering a change of look during my down time (or actually, whenever I can get away with it, as long as I don’t need to meet with clients or impress someone). And I’m looking at adidas’ Originals ST, which is the newest in their street style collection: vibrant and playful sneakers, hoodies and shirts. Think I can get away with a skater girl/hip hop look at my age? Haha!
Pao and I dropped by their Greenbelt branch to check out the new stock:
